On Monday, Donghua University released its first United Nations (UN) PRME Sharing Information on Progress (SIP) report. PRME stands for Principles for Responsible Management Education. In the report, DHU shares the sustainability-related progress, since it became a PRME signatory two years ago and an Advanced Signatory last year. DHU is one of the 9 Chinese universities to have Signatory status.
The university incorporates business ethics and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) in the classroom. For instance, students in DHU’s Center of International Programs (CIP) researched businesses in Shanghai that explicitly promote CSR. Also, students wrote individual essays on contemporary topics based on business ethics and CSR.
Being a university with a strong focus on textile, DHU launched the World Textile University Alliance in December 2018. DHU seeks to collaborate with members of the Alliance, to develop innovative sustainable solutions for the textile industry.
For the next two years, DHU aims to extend PRME-related activities, while also creating a PRME Leadership Team. In addition, it will seek to become more involved in the work of PRME Chapter East Asia.
